Spot exchange
On the spot market, the buyer swaps one asset for another. In the BTC/USDT pair, BTC is the base asset, USDT is the quote currency. After execution, the purchased BTC appears on the exchange balance and can be withdrawn if withdrawals are available.
Margin and Futures
Margin uses borrowed funds; a futures contract creates a contractual position. Interest or funding, margin requirement, liquidation price, and the risk of forced liquidation appear. These modes are not suitable for learning “by guesswork”.
