In terms of household circumstances, 55% of respondents reported that their household circumstances had become worse off compared to the previous year, while 39.6% said they had remained the same, and 4.8% reported an improvement. The survey also found that 92.6% of respondents who reported a worsening of their household circumstances attributed it to rising prices. The perception of the current interest rate level showed that 33.3% of respondents thought it was too low, 40.8% considered it appropriate, and 24% believed it was too high. The interest rate level diffusion index, which measures the proportion of respondents who think the interest rate is too high minus those who think it is too low, registered a record high of minus 9.3 percentage points in June 2026. Regarding price levels, the survey found that 68.5% of respondents believed prices had gone up significantly or slightly over the past year, while 25.2% thought they had remained almost unchanged, and 2.7% believed they had gone down slightly or significantly. The average expected rate of change in prices over the next year was 13.1%, with a median of 10%. The survey also asked about the outlook for price levels over the next five years, with an average expected rate of change of 10.8% and a median of 5%. The results of the survey provide insights into the public's perceptions of economic conditions, household circumstances, and price levels, as well as their expectations for the future. These findings can be useful for policymakers and researchers seeking to understand the impact of economic trends on households and the broader economy.
